COMMITTEE ON RETIREES’ RIGHTS AND BENEFITS :
Charges for 2006-2007 Committee:
STANDING:
Review and update the Retirees’ Handbook. Update the section on health care as soon as the open enrollment material comes from the State Health Care Commission. Make other changes as needed throughout the year. Request University Governance to twice annually (early in the Fall and Spring terms) to notify active and retired faculty of the availability of the Handbook with links to the text.
Keep informed on items before SenEx and University Council and send an observer to their meetings when issues of concern to retirees are under consideration; request that agendas of both bodies be sent to the Chair of CRRB in advance of the meetings.
Serve as liaison with Provost’s office on topics and events on which retirees would like to be informed.
Consult with HREO and the Provost’s office on the maintenance and updating of the University retirees’ mailing list.
Maintain regular contact with the Endacott Society through the Society’s Benefits Chair. (In 2006-2007 this will be Fred Madaus).
Notify retirees annually through the affiliates’ mailing list of the existence of the committee and its willingness to consider issues of retiree interest.
Keep retirees’ concerns before the University community.
AD HOC:
Work with Vice Provost for Research and/or Hall Center Director on a retirees’ research convocation/colloquium.
Examine the problem of office space/studies for retirees and recommend possible remedies.
